Just one?!

She said, “If you were to come face to face with God, and could ask only one question, what would it be?" I laughed. “Just one?" I couldn't bring myself to answer her because I couldn't choose. Just one?!

Dear Lord,

There is so much I want to know. Like how was life like for you before you created heaven and earth? Why did you put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden? Can all the angels change their form like Lucifer did? Turning into a talking serpent? Why did you choose to curse your creation when you could have easily given them a second chance? Wasn't cursing the ground so it brings forth thorns and thistles going a little too far for a people that you love? Why did you drive them out of the garden and keep them away from the tree of life? Knowing how painful it is to lose a loved one? I've read about the shadow of death. Does death have a form? How did you feel when the people from Noah's time were drowning from the flood? How did you feel when you heard the screams of the people from Sodom as you rained brimstone and fire on them? Why punish them before there was even the law to abide by? How many times have you regretted ever making man? How did you knowing, that when the people are one, there is nothing which they have imagined, that they cannot do, choose to divide and scatter them upon the face of the earth? Making them not understand each other's speech? What would have happened if that tower had reached Heaven? Why harden Pharaoh's heart and kill his son in the process? All Egyptian heirs in actual fact? How did all the races on earth come from two people? Are our paths set in stone like it was with Esau and Jacob? Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from your bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger? After seven good years Jacob still couldn't differentiate between Leah and Rachel's voice? Did Jacob wrestle with an angel or with you? Why did you promise your people land that was already inhabited by others? Doesn't sound fair to me. What really is the Sabbath? What would have happened if Job had cursed you? I mean he was human after all. And for all have sinned and fallen short of your glory? A star led the wise men to Jesus, how come astrology is deemed an evil? I wonder why when the angel stirred the water you let only the person, the one who jumped in first get healed. What about the others? Why did most of Jesus's responses seem rude yet we are taught to be kind? What made you choose the longest way to save us? Sending a baby when you could have done it in an instant? Why did you let the whites colonise our land? Selling us as slaves for work and sex? The leaders we have  are eating all the bread and leaving us to fight for the bread crumbs? I hear you are the one who puts them in place? Life is already hard, a hell or heaven sentence to top it off huh? What lessons are we learning from the broken families, the poverty, the sickness, the wars? Why ain't we told our purposes at birth so we don't go on wandering the earth unsure of what we are supposed to do? Why don't you speak with all of us like you did with Moses? Why do I still have a lot more questions even after typing these? Shouldn't you have made it all clear? Black and white?

Ecclesiastes 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

You have made us for yourself oh lord. Our hearts are restless until they rest in you. May you give to us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. The eyes of our understanding being enlightened that we may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe according to the working of your mighty power which you worked in Christ when you raised him from the dead and seated him at your right hand in the heavenly places. Take away all the doubt that may arise from the  unanswered questions. May we trust in you with our all. In Jesus's name we pray,

Amen.
